Math Curriculum Part 1 for High School Beginning Teachers
In this session, participants will explore and discuss their beliefs about teaching and learning mathematics. In examining these beliefs, participants can begin to plan for how mathematics instruction will look and feel in their individual classroom, how they will assess student content knowledge, and how they will collaborate with their peers. Participants will identify best practices in teaching mathematics by viewing a classroom where these best practices are implemented. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore district level curriculum resources and how they can support mathematics instruction. Finally, participants will understand the importance of aligning the written curriculum to what is taught and tested in the classroom. This will include a discussion on student data and how it can be used for student agency and goal setting.
